The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team slipped from 16th place to 17th place after posted their highest score of the National Junior College Women's National Championship May 16 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
The Bears turned in a score of 375 in the third round May 16 after shooting 365 in the first round and 361 in the second round. Their 54-hole total of 1101 strokes puts them in 17th place in the team standings.
Daytona State College (DSC) continues to lead the tournament with a 54-hole score of 865. DSC's Jiwon Jeon has taken over the individual leadership with a three-round total of 212, four under par. Jeon has posted back-to-back 69s after opening the tournament with a 74.
Sophomore Jaime Bellingham of Auckland, New Zealand, shot an 83 to lead DMACC in the third round. She is tied for 48th place with a 54-hole score of 256.
Other DMACC results in the third round included a 92 by sophomore Kortney Orr of Columbus Junction, a 98 by freshman Allison Nichols of Ogden and a 102 by freshman Alison Schweers of Carroll. Orr is tied for 62nd with a three-round total of 268, Nichols is tied for 85th with a 284 and Schweers is tied for 92nd at 293.
The tournament concludes today at Longbow Golf Club.
