The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Whitney Jensen the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Basketball for the week of January 26 to Feb. 1.

 

Jensen, a sophomore from Remsen, is being honored for the second time this season and she one of two members of the DMACC women's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season. Jensen was also honored the week of Nov. 10 to 16 and freshman Alivia Carr of Bettendorf was honored the week of Nov. 3 to 9.

 

Jensen scored 36 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in leading the Bears to a pair of wins during the week. She scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists in an 83-56 win over Central (Neb.) Community College (CCC) Jan. 28 at Columbus, Neb, and recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 68-35 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Jan. 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Jensen shot 50 percent for the week as she went 7-of-14 in both games. She was 2-of-4 from three-point range and 2-of-3 at the free throw line in the win over CCC and connected on two of four three-point attempts and went 2-of-2 at the free throw line in the win over ICCC.

 

Jensen was also tasked with defending the top shooters against both CCC and ICCC. She led a defense that limited ICCC to 35 points and forced 21 turnovers.

 

Jensen has scored 264 points and is averaging 12 points and 6.5 rebounds a game for the Bears, who are 17-6 overall and 9-6 in the ICCAC. She is shooting. 41 percent from the field, having made 101-of 248 field goal attempts. Jensen is 16-of-86 from three-point range and 46-of-65 from the free throw line.

 

Jensen's season also includes 144 rebounds, 75 assists and 67 steals.
