The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jaqson Tejada the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the week of April 21 to 27.
Tejada, a sophomore from Marion, is being honored for the second time this season and he is one of four members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. He was also honored the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 2.
Tejada earned the honors after pitching a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Kirkwood Community College (KCC), April 26 at Cedar Rapids. He faced 24 batters, three over the minimum, striking out seven and walking three in improving to 2-2 for the season.
In addition to being 2-2, Tejada has one save and a 6.19 earned run average this season. He has pitched 36 and a third innings, allowing 37 runs on 37 hits with 36 strikeouts and 20 walks. He is averaging 8.92 strikeouts per nine innings and is averaging 1.57 hits and walks per inning.
The DMACC baseball team, 21-27 overall and 15-15 in the ICCAC, closes out the regular season with a three-game series against Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) May 3 and 4 at the DMACC baseball diamond. ILCC is 9-41 overall and 1-29 in the ICCAC.
