The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jadan Graves the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball for the week of November 15 to 21.
Graves, a covid-18 sophomore (CoSO) from Syracuse, N.Y., is the second member of the DMACC men's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season. CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., was honored by the conference for the week of Nov. 1 to 7.
Graves led the Bears to a 1-1 record during the week. He scored 21 points as the Bears, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II defending national champion, dropped a 75-73 overtime decision to Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) on Nov. 16 and scored 25 points in a 97-56 win over the Central College junior varsity (CCJV) on Nov. 20.
Graves was 6-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-7 from three-point range, and made six of seven free throw attempts in the loss to KCKCC. He was 10-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-7 from three-point range, in the win over CCJV.
Graves leads the Bears in scoring this season, averaging 18.4 points a game. He is shooting 53 percent from the field, having made 29 of 55 field goal attempts. Graves is 17-of-34 from three-point range for 50 percent and is 17-of-20 from the free throw line for 85 percent.
Graves' season also includes 20 rebounds, 13 assists and four steals.
The DMACC men's basketball team, 6-2 and ranked ninth in the NJCAA Division II poll, will play in the Southeastern Classic Nov. 26 and 27 at West Burlington. The Bears will face Lincoln Trail College (LTC) on Nov. 26 and will play Lincoln Land College (LLC) on Nov. 27.
