- Freshman Landen Norris leads DMACC with 14 points
- Four other DMACC players score in double figures

Freshman Landen Norris of Knoxville led five players in double figures with 14 points as the DMACC men's basketball team improved to 19-1 with a 94-74 win over Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) January 20 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
Freshman Brent Taylor added 13 points to the DMACC attack, sophomore Shelton Colwell, Jr., of Newark, N.J., scored 12 points and freshman Kaden Tate of Pearland, Texas, and freshman Kavon Phillips of Davenport had 11 points apiece as the Bears ran their current winning streak to 13 games.
DMACC, ranked second in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), trailed 3-2 with the game barely a minute old before taking the lead for good at 5-3 on a three-pointer by Taylor with just more than 18 minutes to play in the opening half. The Bears had a 49-30 lead at halftime and led by as many as 29 points with just more than seven minutes remaining in regulation.
The win came behind 45 percent shooting as DMACC connected on 37 of 83 field goal attempts. The Bears were 8-of-29 from three-point range and 12-of-25 from the free throw line.
DCTC was led by Yarin Alexander with a game-high 21 points. The Blue Knights fell to 7-13 after making 26 of 68 field goal attempts for 38 percent. They were 4-of-23 from three-point range and 18-of-23 from the free throw line.
DMACC came away with a 53-43 advantage on the boards with Tate's nine rebounds leading the way. Freshman Kiki Deng of Des Moines had eight rebounds and freshman Hunter Gawron of Skokie, Ill., added six. Sophomore Rylan Smith of Lincoln, Neb., topped DMACC in assists with five and Norris finished with four. Tate led the way in steals with two.
The DMACC men's basketball team returns to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play Jan. 24 when the Bears host Southwestern Community College (SWCC) inside the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC is undefeated in conference play at 10-0. SWCC is 7-12 overall and 3-7 in the league play. The Spartans' losses include a 97-67 decision against DMACC Dec. 6 at Creston.
