The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named DMACC's Kaden Tate a second-team All-American for Division II men's basketball.
Tate, a sophomore from Pearland, Texas, is the only member of the DMACC men's basketball team to earn All-American honors this season. He is the 15th DMACC men's basketball player to earn All-American honors dating back to the 2001-02 academic year.
Tate averaged 10.4 points and 9.1 rebounds a game for the Baars, who put together a 33-3 season and finished sixth in the 2026 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship. He was named to the all-tournament team announced at the conclusion of the championship game after scoring 46 points and grabbing 42 rebounds in DMACC's four tournament games.
Tate, who started all 36 games during the season, scored 376 points on 66 percent shooting from the field. He was 152-of-230 in field goal attempts, including 2-of-15 from three-point range. Tate made 70 pf 138 free throw attempts for 51 percent.
Tate has been described as a brick wall at the rim for opposing teams. His team-leading 326 rebounds included 202 defensive rebounds and he also contributed a team-high 80 blocked shots. His season included 65 assists and 67 steals.
Beginning with an 89-85 win over Kirkwood Community College (KCC) on March 21 and continuing through the Region 11-A tournament and the Bears' first three games in the national championship, Tate pulled down ten or more rebounds in seven consecutive games, averaging just more than 12 and a half rebounds per game.
Tate led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in field goal percentage and blocked shots. He was second in steals and third in rebounds per game.
In addition to going 33-3 and finishing sixth in the national tournament, the DMACC men's basketball team won its third consecutive ICCAC regular season championship with a 20-0 record. The Bears' 33 wins set a new school record for wins in a season and they also set a new school record for consecutive wins in a season with 26.
