- Freshman Luke Linde leads DMACC with a tie for sixth place
- Freshman Zach Wilson ties for 15th place
- Sophomore Caleb Ham ties for 17th place
Freshman Luke Linde of Winterset carded a seven-over-par 79 to lead the DMACC men's golf team to a fourth-place finish in the Central Shootout April 8 at Bos Landen Golf Course in Pella.
DMACC, the only two-year college playing in the nine-team event, posted an 18-hole score of 328, 21 strokes behind the winning total of 307 by Central College (CC). North Central Missouri College (NCMC) and Clarke College (CC) finished second and third respectively with scores of 323 and 324.
CC's Blake Wynn took medalist honors with a three-over-par 75.
Other DMACC scores included an 81 from freshman Zach Wilson of Ames, an 82 by sophomore Caleb Ham of Hudson, an 86 from sophomore Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, and an 89 from freshman Joey Currans of Ames. Wilson tied for 15th, Ham tied for 17th, Hakanen finished in 29th place and Currans was 37th.
Three other members of the DMACC men's golf team, freshman Ryan Schmierer of North Liberty, freshman Faree Alexander of Kimberly Western Cape, South Africa, and freshman Ethan Nace of Iowa City competed in the tournament as individuals. Schmierer tied for 20th place with an 83, Alexander tied for 24th with an 86 and Nace tied for 41st place with a 90.
The DMACC men's golf team will play in the North Central District Spring Preview April 14 at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City.
