- Freshman Luke Linde leads DMACC with a tie for 11th place
- Sophomore Caleb Ham and freshman Faree Alexander tie for 22nd
- Sophomore Lari Hakanen ties for 31st
Freshman Luke Linde of Winterset shot a six-over-par 78 and tied for 11th place individually in leading the DMACC men's golf team to a tie for sixth place in the North Central District Spring Preview April 14 at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City.
The Bears turned in an 18-hole score of 320, 32 strokes over par, in tying Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) for sixth place. Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) captured the team championship with an 18-hole score of 313 and Kirkwood Community College (KCC) was second at 314.
Kaeden Anderson of Hawkeye Community College (HCC) took medalist honors with a two-over-par 74.
Other DMACC results included a tie for 22nd by sophomore Caleb Ham of Hudson and freshman Faree Alexander of Kimberly Western Cape, South Africa. Sophomore Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, tied for 31st and freshman Ethan Nace of Iowa City tied for 50th place.
Ham and Alexander posted eight-over-par 80s and Alexander and Nace shot 82 and 86 respectively.
Three members of the DMACC men's golf team, freshmen Ryan Schmierer of North Liberty, Joey Currans of Ames and Zach Wilson of Ames, competed in the tournament as individuals and tied for sixth, 14th and 40th respectively.
Schmierer shot a 77, Currans posted a 79 and Wilson turned in an 84.
The DMACC men's golf team will play in the NIACC Spring Invitational April 22 at Legacy Golf Course in Mason City.
