DMACC men's golf team takes DMACC Spring Invitational

 

Sophomore Luke Linde of Winterset shot a 4-under-par 68 to take medalist honors and lead the DMACC men's golf team to the team championship in the DMACC Spring Invitational April 6 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

 

The title was the third of the season for the Bears, coming on the heels of the Hannibal-LaGrange University Spring Invitational March 23 and 24 at Hannibal, Mo., and the Cougar Shootout March 30 at Normal, Ill.

 

DMACC posted a score of 286 to finish 13 strokes ahead of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). DMACC (B) finished third with 304 strokes.

 

Four of the Bears' five players finished sixth or better. Freshman Archie Nelson of Albert Lea, Minn., was third with an even-par 72 and sophomore Ryan Schmierer of North Liberty and freshman Noah Moberg of Grimes tied for sixth with 73s. Freshman Grady Sigrist of Norwalk rounded out DMACC's performance with a 76, placing 11th.

 

DMACC (B) was led by sophomore Joey Currans of Ames who tied for third with an even-par 72. Sophomore Fareez Alexander of Kimberly Western Cape, South Africa, tied for 11th with a 76 and freshmen Brock Wilson of Peosta and Cade Sunde of West Des Moines tied for 14th with 78s. Sophomore Ethan Nace of Iowa City rounded out the Bears' effort with an 81, placing 20th.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Iowa Central Spring Invitational April 10 and 11 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.
