Nine members of the DMACC men's track & field team competed in either the Drake Relays or the Kip Janvrin Open last week in Des Moines and Indianola respectively.
Sophomore Eli Page of Vinton was DMACC's lone entry to the Drake Relays and he finished eighth in the open 5000-meter run open unseeded on April 23. His time was 15 minutes, 02.82 seconds. Daniel Rotich of Drake University (DU) won the race in 14:30.45.
Freshman Joseph Lawry of Waukee led a contingent of eight members of the DMACC men's track & field team at the Kip Janvrin Open April 24 and 25 at Indianola. He placed 16th in the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 14:47.34. Freshman Christian Choate of Martensdale posted a time of 15:16.22 in the same event, finishing in 52nd place. Cashton Johnson, running unattached, won the event with a time of 14:24.18.
Freshman Sam Mora of Grimes led three DMACC runners in the men's 1500-meter run, finishing in 27th place with a time of 3:56.18. Sophomore Zack Stoermer of Des Moines was 43rd in 5:59.53 and freshman Owen Ament of Colfax finished in 92nd place with a time of 4:28.30. Cade Sanvik, running unattached, won the race in 3:47.30.
Freshmen Gabe List of Watertown, S.D., and Daniel Jones of Milford and sophomore Hunter Landphair of Adel ran in the men's 800-meter run. List posted a time of 1:57.50 and finished in 36th place. Jones was 40th in 1:57.78 and Landphair finished 69th with a time of 2:03.10. Max Lindgren of First City Track Club won the race with a time of 1:51.47.
The DMACC men's track & field team will compete in the Region 11 Championships May 1 to 3 at Council Bluffs.
