- Freshman Christian Choate leads DMACC with a second-place finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase

The DMACC men's track & field team came away with a tie for sixth place in the Region 11 Championships May 1 to 3 at Council Bluffs.
Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) took the team championship with 264 points, barely beating Iowa Central Community College (ICCC), which was second with 262.2 points. DMACC and Southeastern (Iowa) Community College (SEICC) tied for sixth with 23 points apiece.
Freshman Christian Choate of Martensdale had DMACC's best finish, placing second in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Choate posted a time of 10 minutes, 8.28 seconds. Emmanuel Kiplaget of ICCC won the race in 9:51.38.
Sophomore Eli Page of Vinton collected DMACC's second-best individual finish, crossing the finish line in fifth place in the men's 1500-meter run. His time was 3:55.87. IWCC's Pierre Carlier won the race with a time of 3:53.28.
Two other DMACC runners, freshman Sam Mora of Grimes and sophomore Zach Stoermer of Des Moines also competed in the men's 1500-meter run, finishing 12th and 13th respectively. Mora posted a time of 4:04.00 and Stoermer crossed the finish line in 4:05.86.
DMACC came away with third and fourth place finishes respectively in the men's 4x800-meter relay and the men's 4x4000-meter relay. Mora, freshman Gabe List of Watertown, S.D., Stoermer and Page represented DMACC in the 4x800-meter relay, posting a time of 7:45.86. Freshman Dylan Jones of Milford, List, sophomore Hunter Landphair of Adel and freshman Owen Ament of Colfax were the DMACC runners in the 4x400-meter relay and they turned in a time of 3:40.74.
ICCC won the 4x800-meter relay in 7:42.62 and IWCC took the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.01.
DMACC runners also competed in the men's 800-meter run and the men's 5000-meter run. Jones, List and Landphair were 15th, 18th and 21st respectively in the 800-meter run, finishing behind the winning time of 1:47.33 by ICCC's Sousyane Laaziz. Jones' time was 1:57.51, List crossed the finish line in 1:59.72 and Landphair posted a time of 2:00.82.
Ament finished 14th in the men's 5000-meter run, turning in a time of 18:07.88. Carlier also took this race with a time of 15:22.92.
The DMACC men's track & field team will run in the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships May 14 to 16 at Hobbs. N.M. Mora, List, Stoermer and Page will run in the men's 4x800-meter relay and Mora Stoermer and Page will compete in the men's 1500-meter run. Page and freshman Joseph Lawry of Waukee will run in the men's 5000-meter run.
