DMACC men's cross country team wins Region 11 championship

Sophomore Eli Page of Vinton posted a time of 25 minutes, 37 seconds over the 8K course to take medalist honors and lead the DMACC men's cross country team to the team championship in the Region 11 Championships October 24 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

 

Page was one of seven DMACC runners to finish in the top 10 as the Bears scored 18 points and outdistanced runner-up Southeastern Community College (SECC) by 27 points. North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) was a distance third with 82 points.

 

Other DMACC results included a second-place finish by freshman Sam Mora of Grimes. Freshman Christian Choate of Martensdale, sophomore Elijah Blix of Vinton, freshman Joseph Lowry of Waukee and sophomore Zack Stoermer of Des Moines were fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively and sophomore Hunter Landphair of Adel finished ninth.

 

Mora's time was 26:05, Choate posted a time of 26:22, Blix crossed the finish line in 26:37 and Lowry posted a time of 26:39. Stoermer and Landphair turned in times of 26:56 and 28:12 respectively.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team, currently ranked third behind Lansing (Mich.) Community College (LCC) and Wallace State (Ala.) Community College (WSCC) in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, will run in the 2025 NJCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championship Nov. 8 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

 

DMACC scored 102 points and finished second to LCC in the 2024 National meet.
