Five DMACC women's basketball players earn all-region honors

Five members of the DMACC women's basketball team have been named to the Region 11 All-Region Basketball Team announced March 9 by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Sophomore Whitney Jensen of Remsen was named to the first team and to the all-region defensive team. Sophomore Chloe Costello of Northwood, freshman Alivia Carr of Bettendorf and sophomore Breeley Clayburg of Coon Rapids earned second-team recognition and freshman Jordan Valley of Waverly garnered third-team honors.

 

Jensen has scored 360 points thus far this season and is averaging 11.2 points a game. She is shooting 41 percent from the field, having made 132 of 321 field goal attempts. Jensen is 26-of-115 from three-point range for 23 percent and has made 70 of 91 free throw attempts for 77 percent.

 

Jensen has pulled down 206 rebounds, including 148 defensive rebounds and is averaging 6.4 rebounds a game. Her season also includes 102 assists, 86 steals and a team-leading 34 blocked shots.

 

Costello has scored 337 points and is averaging 10.2 points a game. She has made 125 of 344 field goal attempts for 36 percent and is 46-of-174 from three-point range for 26 percent. Costello is shooting 73 percent from the free throw line with 41 free throws from 56 attempts.

 

Costello has collected 78 rebounds this season and is averaging 2.4 rebounds a game. Her season also includes 49 assists, 30 steals and seven blocked shots.

 

Carr has scored 291 points and leads the Bears in scoring with a 13.2 average. She is shooting 43 percent from the field with 108 field goals from 251 shots. Carr has made 15 of 56 attempts from three-point range for 27 percent and is 60-of-78 from the free throw line for 77 percent.

 

Carr has hauled down 140 rebounds and is averaging 6.4 rebounds a game. Her season also includes 26 assists, 18 steals and five blocked shots.

 

Clayburg has scored 303 points and is averaging 8.5 points a game. She is shooting 45 percent from the field with 133 field goals from 294 attempts. Clayburg has made three of 31 shots from beyond the arc for 10 percent and is 34-of-42 from the free throw line for 81 percent.

 

Clayburg is DMACC's top rebounder with 245 rebounds, including 129 defensive rebounds, and is averaging 7.9 rebounds a game. Her season also includes 30 assists, 33 steals and 16 blocked shots.

 

Valley has scored 113 points and is averaging 3.5 points a game. She is shooting 25 percent from the field with 38 field goals from 155 shots. Valley is 24-of-111 from three-point range for 22 percent and is 13-of-23 from the free throw line for 57 percent.

 

Valley has 91 rebounds and is averaging 2.8 rebounds a game. Her season also includes 93 assists, 91 steals and three blocked shots.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team, 25-8 and ranked 24th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, defeated Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) and Kirkwood Community College (KCC) to win the Region 11-A championship and handed United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) an 86-71 loss in the North Central District championship game to advance to the 2026 NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship for the first time in school history. The tournament will be played March 16 to 21 at Hickory, N.C.
