DMACC women's golf team wins DMACC Spring Invitational

 

Freshman Megan Wilde of Somerset, England, posted an 8-over-par 80 to lead the DMACC women's golf team to the team championship in the DMACC Spring Invitational April 6 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

 

The Bears, who placed all six players in the top 10, shot an 18-hole round of 346 to outdistance runner-up Waldorf University (WU) by 54 strokes. The Warriors turned in an 18-hole score of 400.

 

DMACC got top 10 finishes from all six players. Freshman Hannah Kenkel of Waukee and sophomore Haley Loonan of Gilbert finished second and third respectively and freshmen Isabella Ross of Ankeny and Sydney Helgeson of Garner and sophomore Abby Cook of Story City were fourth, fifth and ninth respectively.

 

Kenkel shot an 85, Loonan turned in a 90 and Ross, Helgeson and Cook shot rounds of 91, 94 and 107 respectively.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Spring Statesmen Shootout April 8 at Oskaloosa.
