DMACC women's golf team finishes fourth in Waterloo Intercollegiate

 

The DMACC women's golf team returned home with a fourth-place finish after playing in the Waterloo Intercollegiate April 17 at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo.

 

The Bears posted an 18-hole score of 343 strokes, finishing 13 strokes behind the winning total of 330 strokes by Simpson College (SC).

 

Izzy McNaughton of Briar Cliff University (BCU) took medalist honors with a seven-over-par 79.

 

DMACC had the best finishing among community college teams playing in the tournament, besting North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) by three strokes and finishing 54 strokes in front of Hawkeye Community College (HCC).

 

The Bears were led by freshman Megan Wilde of Somerset, England, with an 81. She finished fourth in the individual competition. Freshmen Hannah Kenkel of Waukee and Sydney Helgeson of Garner were ninth and 17th respectively with scores of 84 and 87.

 

Sophomore Haley Loonan of Gilbert and freshman Isabella Ross of Ankeny rounded out DMACC's performance, placing 25th and 29th respectively. Loonan posted a 91 and Ross shot a 92.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the NIACC Spring Invite April 24 at Mason City.
