The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Ava Manning the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Cross Country for the week of October 20 to 26.
Manning, a sophomore from Des Moines, is being honored by the conference for the fourth time this season and she is the only member of the DMACC women's cross country team to be honored by the conference this season.
Manning turned in a career-best 19 minutes, 16 seconds in winning the 5K race at the Region 11 Championships Oct. 24 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. She was the first of five DMACC runners to finish in the top six.
The DMACC women's cross country team, ranked fourth in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) behind Mesa (Ariz.) Community College (MCC), Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College (PVCC) and Wallace State-Hanceville (Ala.) Community College (WSHCC), will run in the 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship Nov. 8 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
DMACC finished third behind MCC and PVCC in the 2024 national championship.
