DMACC's Grady Sigrist named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Sigrist finished second in the Cougar Shootout on March 30
  • Sigrist led the Bears to the team championship
  • Sigrist is averaging 77 strokes per 18 holes this spring

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Grady Sigrist the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Golf for the week of March 30 to April 5.

 

Sigrist, a freshman from Norwalk, is being honored for the first time this spring and he is the first member of the DMACC men's golf team to be honored by the conference this spring.

 

Sigrist finished second in the individual competition in leading the Bears to the team championship in the Cougar Shootout March 30 at Normal, Ill. He was the first day medalist with a 2-under-par 69 and posted a 77 in his second round for a 36-hole score of 4-over-par 146 in finishing second.

 

Sigrist led DMACC to a 36-hole total of 595 and a six-stroke advantage over Parkland College (PC) in the team standings.

 

Sigrist shot rounds of 85 and 80 for a 36-hole total of 165 and finished 27th as DMACC took the team championship in the Hannibal-LaGrange Spring Invite March 23 and 24 at Hannibal, Mo., and finished 11th with a 76 as the Bears won the DMACC Spring Invitational April 6 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will compete in the Iowa Central Spring Invite April 10 and 11 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.
