Sophomore Luke Linde of Winterset and freshman Grady Sigrist of Norwalk posted one-over-par 71s to lead the DMACC men's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the Deere Hawk Classic April 16 at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
The Bears posted an 18-hole score of 296, 16-over-par, and finished 13 strokes behind the winning total of 283 by Heartland (Ill.) Community College (HCC).
The tournament was originally scheduled to be a 36-hole event and was shortened to 18 holes because of weather issues.
Trey Boecker of Illinois Central College (ICC) took medalist honors with a 4-under-par 66.
Sigrist and Linde tied for eighth place in the individual competition.
Other DMACC results saw freshman Archie Nelson of Albert Lea, Minn., and sophomore Fareez Alexander of Western Cape, South Africa, tie for 37th place after each shot a 7-over-par 77.
DMACC freshmen Cade Sunde of West Des Moines and Noah Moberg of Grimes played in tournament as individuals and tied for 37th and 52nd respectively. Sunde shot 77 and Moberg had a 78.
