DMACC volleyball team drops 3-0 decision to ICCC

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Abby Allmon had a team-high 10 kills as the DMACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) September 8 at Fort Dodge.

 

ICCC, the top-ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, won by set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-21. DMACC came into the match ranked 11th in NJCAA Division II.

 

CoFR Kylie Welch of Davenport had eight kills in the loss, CoFR Chloe Gilgen of Modale finished with five and CoFR Anna Niehaus of Carroll and CoFR Abigail Maue of Walker contributed four apiece. The Bears hit .162, getting 34 kills from 117 attacks with 15 hitting errors.

 

CoFR Sara Hansen of Hudson led DMACC in assists with 14 and COFR Morgan Tupper of Nevada and CoFR Rachel Eddy of Dubuque had eight and seven respectively. Eddy topped the Bears in digs with 15 and Hansen and Welch had 10 apiece.  Maue, Welch and CoFR Alissa Weinkoetz of Afton had two blocks apiece.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Rochester Tournament today at Rochester, Minn. The Bears will face Rock Valley College (RVC) at 5 p.m. and will meet Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) at 7 p.m.
