The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Abigail Maue the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II volleyball defense for the week of September 6 to 12.
Maue, a middle blocker and right-side hitter, is the second DMACC volleyball player to be honored by the ICCAC this season. CoFR Kylie Welch of Davenport earned the honor for Division II volleyball offense for the time period of Aug. 19 to 29.
Maue, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Walker, picked up nine blocks and eight kills in 11 sets as the Bears went 2-1 against three ranked opponents. Maue had four kills, three digs and two block assists as the Bears, ranked 12th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, lost a 3-0 decision to top-ranked Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). She recorded three kills, two digs and six block assists in DMACC's 3-2 win over Rock Valley College (RVC), the No. 1 team in NJCAA Division III, and she came away with one kill, three digs and two blocks in a 3-0 win over Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC), the No. 4 team in NJCAA Division III.
For the season, Maue has 47 kills, 20 digs and 49 blocks, including 43 block assists. Maue ranks fifth in the ICCAC in total blocks with 43 and she is fifth in block assists with 39.
The DMACC volleyball team will face Southwestern Community College (SWCC) on Sept. 22 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
