The DMACC volleyball team fell to 14-12 for the season following a three-set loss to Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) Oct. 18 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
IHCC, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I program, defeated the Bears for the second time this season by set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-21. The loss extended DMACC's losing streak to four matches, the longest of the season.
Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Kyle Welch of Davenport paced DMACC with 16 kills and a .394 hitting percentage, getting those 16 kills from 33 attacks with three hitting errors. As a team, DMACC hit .190 with 32 kills from 100 attacks and 13 hitting errors.
CoFR Sara Hansen of Hudson led the Bears in assists with 23 and also had 11 digs. CoFR Rachel Eddy of Dubuque had a team-high 12 digs and Hansen and CoFR Alissa Weinkoetz of Afton had two block assists apiece.
The DMACC volleyball team returns to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play Oct. 20 when the Bears face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) at Iowa Falls. DMACC is 4-3 in conference play. ECC is 9-19 overall and 1-6 in the league.
