- CoFR Anna Niehaus of Carroll leads DMACC with 20 kills
- CoFR Sara Hansen of Hudson comes away with 46 assists and 19 digs
- Bears hit .272 in the win
The DMACC volleyball team ended a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) October 20 at Iowa Falls.
The Bears won by set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 26-28, 25-13 to improve to 15-12 overall and 5-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Anna Niehaus of Carroll led DMACC to the win with 20 kills and a .279 hitting percentage. She got those 20 kills from 43 attacks with eight hitting errors. CoFR Kylie Welch of Davenport came away with 15 kills and CoFR Abigail Maue of Walker added 10. DMACC hit .272 in the win, getting 61 kills from 158 attacks with 18 hitting errors.
CoFR Sara Hansen led the Bears in assists with 45 and finished with 19 digs and five blocks, including three block assists. CoFR Morgan Tupper of Nevada had eight ace serves and four DMACC players joined Hansen in double figures in digs. Tupper came away with 13, Welch had 11 and CoFR Rachel Eddy of Dubuque and CoFR Kassidie Galloway of Mechanicsville had 10 apiece. CoFR Karlee Timm of Victor finished with four block assists.
The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Neosho Tournament Oct. 22 and 23 at Chanute, Kan. The Bears will face Coffeyville Community College (CCC) and Neosho County Community College (NCCC) on Oct. 22 and will play Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) and the Ottawa University junior varsity (OUJV) on Oct. 23.
