Five members of the DMACC volleyball team have earned postseason honors from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Kylie Welch of Davenport and CoFR Sara Hansen of Hudson have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-A first team and to the ICCAC all-conference first team. CoFR Anna Niehaus of Carroll earned NJCAA Region XI-A second team honors and ICCAC second team honors and CoFR Abigail Maue of Walker and Rachel Eddy of Dubuque received ICCAC all-conference honorable mention.
Welch led the Bears in kills and ace serves and finished second in digs this season. She had 378 kills and hit .224 for the season with those kills coming from 1,173 attacks with 115 hitting errors. Welch had 39 ace serves and 420 digs, averaging 3.41 digs per set. Her season also included 44 assists and 52 blocks, including 39 block assists.
Hansen led DMACC in assists with 847, averaging 7.18 assists per set. Her season also included 51 kills, 24 ace serves, 358 digs and 44 blocks, including 36 block assists.
Niehaus was second to Welch in kills with 292. She hit .209 with those kills coming from 848 attacks with 115 hitting errors. Niehaus' season also included 11 assists, 115 digs and 39 blocks, including 34 block assists.
Maue topped the Bears in blocks with 135, including 114 block assists. Her season also included 154 kills, eight assists and 43 digs. Maue hit .175 with her 154 blocks coming from 498 attacks with 67 hitting errors.
Eddy led DMACC in digs with 519, averaging 4.22 digs per set. Her season also included two kills, 121 assists and 26 ace serves.
The DMACC volleyball team concluded the season with a 19-15 record and a 5-4 mark in the ICCAC. The Bears reached the championship match of the NJCAA Region XIA tournament where they lost to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC).
