DMACC's Danica Wrage named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Wrage matched her career high with eight blocks against Northeast Oklahoma A&M
  • Wrage had 16 blocks in nine sets during the week
  • Wrage leads Division II of the ICCAC with an average of 1.26 blocks per set

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Danica Wrage the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball for the week of August 25 to 31.

 

Wrage, a sophomore middle blocker from Waterloo, is the first member of the DMACC volleyball team to be honored by the conference this season. She matched her career high in blocks with eight block assists in a three-set loss to Northeast Oklahoma A&M (NEOAM) Aug. 29 at Overland Park, Kan.

 

Wrage came away with 16 blocks during the week, beginning with three block assists in a 3-0 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) Aug. 25 inside the DMACC gymnasium. She collected five block assists in a 3-0 loss to Johnston County Community College (JCCC) Aug. 27 at Overland Park, Kan., before matching her career high in the NEOAM match. JCCC is ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II preseason poll.

 

Wrage, whose week also included seven digs, 10 kills and an ace serve, leads Division II of the ICCAC in blocks per set at 1.26.

 

Wrage's season includes 32 kills, one assist, two ace serves, 22 digs and 34 blocks, including 33 block assists.
