DMACC volleyball team takes 3-0 decision from Northeast

 

The DMACC volleyball team ran its record to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 3-0 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) September 11 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears, ranked 14th in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), won by set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-7.

 

Freshman Ramsey Johnston of Chaska, Minn., had 13 kills and hit .440 in leading DMACC to the win. Johnston got her 13 kills from 25 attacks with two hitting errors. As a team, DMACC hit .282 with 34 kills from 85 attacks with 10 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Sydney Anderson of Marshalltown led the Bears in assists with 17 and Johnston added nine. Freshman Indy Johnson of Clarion contributed three ace serves and sophomore Danica Wrage of Waterloo added two.

 

Sandvold and freshman Kathryn Lukkarinen of Macomb, Ill., topped DMACC in digs with 13 apiece and Johnson came away with 10.

 

Wrage had five blocks, including four block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will face the Upper Iowa University Junior Varsity tonight at Fayette.
