DMACC volleyball team sweeps Central, 3-0

 

Sophomore Reagan Wheeler of Cedar Falls had nine digs and sophomore Danica Wrage of Waterloo and freshman Ramsey Johnston of Chaska, Minn., added six apiece as the DMACC volleyball team took a 3-0 decision from Central (Neb.) Community College Sept. 24 at Columbus, Neb.

 

The Bears, ranked 13th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), won by set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-14 to improve to 12-7 overall and 4-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

DMACC hit .148 in the win, getting 32 kills from 115 attacks with 15 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Sydney Anderson of Marshalltown led DMACC in assists with 14 and Johnston added 11. Freshman Indy Johnson of Clarion contributed four ace serves and freshman Kathryn Lukkarinen of Macomb, Ill., led four players in digs with 21. Sophomore Lauren Sandvold of Cedar Falls had 19 digs and Anderson and Johnston finished with 13 and 11 respectively.

 

Wrage topped the Bears in blocks with four block assists.

The DMACC volleyball team will host the DMACC Invitational Sept. 27 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will face Neosho County Community College (NCCC) at 1 p.m. and will play East Central College (ECC) at 3 p.m. NCCC is ranked 17th in NJCAA Division II.
