DMACC volleyball team drops three-set match to ICCC

 

The DMACC volleyball team slipped to 13-9 overall and 4-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) after dropping a three-set match to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) September 30 at Fort Dodge.

 

DMACC, ranked 14th in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), fell to the No. 7 Tritons by set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-13.

 

Freshman Kathryn Lukkarinen of Macomb, Ill., led the Bears with kills and digs with eight and 24 respectively. Freshman Ramsey Johnston of Chaska, Minn., came away with eight kills to go with a team leading 11 assists.

 

DMACC hit .159 in the loss, getting 32 kills from 132 attacks with 11 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Sydney Anderson of Marshalltown had nine assists and one ace serve and sophomore Lauren Sandvold had 20 digs and an ace serve.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will be home to Southeastern Community College (SECC) tonight. Match time is 7 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.

SECC is 16-10 overall and 5-2 in the ICCAC.
