The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Ramsey Johnston the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball (offense) for the Week of October 27 to November 2.
Johnston, a freshman from Chaska, Minn., is being honored for the second time this season and she is one of four members of the DMACC volleyball team to be honored by the conference this season. Johnston was also honored the week of Sept. 8 to 14.
DMACC sophomore Emma Liechti of Ankeny has been honored for her defense the weeks of Oct. 27 to Nov. 5 and Oct. 13 to 19. Sophomore Lauren Sandvold of Cedar Falls has been honored for her defense the weeks of Oct. 6 to 12, Sept. 22 to 28 and Sept. 15 to 21 and sophomore Danica Wrage of Waterloo has been honored for her defense the weeks of Sept. 1 to 7 and Aug. 25 to 31.
Johnston had 24 kills, 66 assists, 14 ace serves, 31 digs and 11 blocks, including 10 block assists, as the Bears, ranked 17th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), won three matches during the week.
Johnston had 11 kills, 28 assists, three ace serves, 12 digs and six blocks, including five block assists in a 3-1 win over Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) on Oct. 27 and came away with eight kills, 22 assists, six ace serves, eight digs and three block assists in a 3-1 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) on Oct. 29. Johnston helped the Bears to a 3-0 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in the Region 11-B semifinals Nov. 1 with five kills, 16 assists, five ace serves, 11 digs and two block assists.
IHCC is an NJCAA Division I program and is ranked 17th nationally.
Johnston has 225 kills and is hitting .242 with those kills coming from 670 attacks with 63 hitting errors. Her season also includes 381 assists, 43 ace serves, 283 digs and 78 blocks, including 73 block assists.
