- Sandvold and Johnston named to the All-Region First Team
- Wheeler and Liechti earn second- and third-team honors respectively
- Anderson receives honorable mention recognition
The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has announced the All-Region Division II all-region teams and special awards for the 2025 season and the list includes five members of the DMACC volleyball team.
Sophomore Lauren Sandvold of Cedar Falls and freshman Ramsey Johnston of Chaska, Minn., were named to the All-Region First Team and sophomore Reagan Wheeler of Cedar Falls garnered second-team honors. Sophomore Emma Liechti of Ankeny was named to the third team and sophomore Sydney Anderson of Marshalltown received All-Region Honorable Mention.
Sandvold, a libero, came away with 779 digs during the season, ranking fifth in Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and her 5.64 digs per set placed her 24th nationally. Sandvold also had 65 service aces, ranking 40th nationally. She is fifth in DMACC's single season record for digs. Sandvold's season also included two kills and 154 assists.
Johnston finished third behind Wheeler and freshman Brooklyn Lyftogt of Van Meter in kills with 236. She hit .243 for the season with those kills coming from 704 attacks with 65 hitting errors. Johnston's season also included 396 assists, 43 service aces, 293 digs and 79 blocks with 74 of those being block assists. Johnston ranked 18th in the ICCAC in assists and 13th in total blocks.
Wheeler topped the Bears in kills with 361 and hit .216 with her kills coming from 1133 attacks with 116 hitting errors. Wheeler's season also included four assists, one service ace, 96 digs and 76 blocks, including 60 block assists.
Liechti finished the season with 141 blocks, including 118 block assists. She had 171 kills and hit .254 with those kills coming from 489 attacks with 47 hitting errors. Liechti was fourth in the ICCAC in blocks per set at 1.01. She also ended the season with 12 assists and 57 digs.
Anderson led the Bears in assists with 545, averaging 4.07 assists per set, good for 15th in the ICCAC. Her season also included 22 kills, 44 service aces and 334 digs.
Tayla Sampson of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) was named the All-Region Division II Player of the Year and Carly Fazac of Kirkwood Community College (KCC) was named the Freshman of the Year. ICCC's Sara Horn garnered Coach of the Year honors.
The DMACC volleyball team concluded the 2025 season at 25-14 overall and 9-3 in the ICCAC, tying the Bears for third place with Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC). DMACC was the No. 3 seed in the Region 11-B tournament and defeated Ellsworth Community College (ECC), 3-0, in the semifinals before losing to KCC, 3-1, in the championship match.
