- Sophomore Ava Manning leads DMACC with a ninth-place finish
- Sophomores Jaycie Vohs and Dakota Tromblay are 20th and 22nd
- Freshmen Mariah Falkena and Lillyona Abernathy are 23rd and 25th
Sophomore Ava Manning of Des Moines finished ninth in the individual competition and led the DMACC women's cross country team to a tie for third place in the Dutch Open Sept. 26 at the Central College Cross Country Course in Pella.
Central College (CC) won the team championship with 19 points and Grinnell College (GC) was second with 42 points. DMACC tallied 99 points in tying Simpson College (SC) for third place. William Penn University (WPU) was a distance fifth with 136 points.
Manning's time over the 6K course was 24 minutes, 14 seconds.
Other DMACC results saw sophomores Laycie Vohs of Galva and Dakota Tromblay of Ogden finish 20th and 22nd respectively and freshmen Mariah Falkena of Dunlap and Lillyona Abernathy of Iowa City were 23rd and 25th respectively. Freshman Cece Thompson of Clive rounded out DMACC's performance with a 30th-place finish.
Vohs' time was 25:24, Tromblay crossed the finish line in 25:44, Falkena posted a time of 25:46 and Abernathy's time was 26:09. Thompson toured the course in 27:54.
Maddy Stevens of CC took medalist honors with a time of 22:57.
The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 10 at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa.
