- Sophomore Ava Manning leads DMACC with a fourth-place finish
- Freshman Mariah Falkena and sophomore Jaycie Vohs are 14th and 16th
- Sophomore Dakota Tromblay and freshman Lillyona Abernathy are 17th and 18th
Sophomore Ava Manning of Des Moines finished fourth overall to lead the DMACC women's cross country team to a third place finish in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 10 at the Indian Hills Cross Country Course in Ottumwa.
Manning toured the 5K course in 18 minutes, 46 seconds as the Bears scored 69 points in finishing behind St. Ambrose University (SAU) and Indian Hills Community College (IHCC). SAU won the team championship with 27 points and IHCC finished second with 57 points.
Other DMACC results saw freshman Mariah Falkena of Dunlap place 14th and sophomores Jaycie Vohs of Galva and Dakota Tromblay of Ogden and freshman Lillyona Abernathy of Iowa City were 16th, 17th and 18th respectively. Falkena's time was 19:47, Tromblay toured the course in 20:00 and Abernathy crossed the finish line in 20:16.
DMACC freshmen Cece Thompson of Clive and Isabella Brinson of Ankeny also ran in the meet, finishing 22nd and 42nd respectively. Thompson's time was 20:43 and Brinson posted a time of 26:39.
Kaitlyn Knoche of SAU took medalist honors with a time of 18:30.
The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Region 11 Championships Oct. 24 at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
