Six members of DMACC women's cross country team earn all-region, all-conference honors

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has announced women's cross country postseason awards and six members of the DMACC women's cross country team and head coach Michael Melchert have been honored.

 

Sophomore Ava Manning of Des Moines was named to the second all-conference team and the first all-region team. Sophomore Dakota Tromblay of Ogden received all-conference honorable mention and was named to the all-region second team and sophomore Jaycie Vohs of Galva also received all-conference honorable mention and was named to the all-region first team.

 

Freshmen Mariah Falkena of Dunlap and Llllyona Abernathy of Iowa City received all-conference honorable mention and were named to the first and second-all-region team respectively. Freshman Cece Thompson of Clive received all-region honorable mention.

 

DMACC women's cross country coach Michael Melchert was named the Division II Coach of the Year.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team closed out the season with an eighth-place finish in the 2025 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Women's Cross Country Championship Nov. 8 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Manning led the Bears to 303 points with a 17th-place finish and was named a second-team All-American. Manning took medalist honors and led the Bears to the team championship in the Region 11 championship Oct. 24, also at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
